DAY 1 Contuniued...

So to finish Day 1 off, after watching me and laughing at my karpiring technique the employees of the Minesterio de Agricultura finally realized that maybe I was serious about my quest to build a permagarden and decided to get their hands dirty and come in and help.

Seeing as for now there is only one hoe, we all had to take turns, but everybody put in a little work, even the woman. And the chakra, I tell you, is a mans world.

It wasn´t to long but we called it quits and decided to take aen extended terere break.

I´ve tried explaining the idea of permaculture to the workers, but I am pretty sure that they still have no idea what I am talking about and probably think I am crazy. But still, they are interested in the idea and told me that next time they will try and bring more hoes so that we can all work together next time.

I am thinking about trying to bring in some outside help and get the jovenes involved. But we will see about that.

Also, the idea of permaculture is fairly new to me. I get the general gist of the idea but when it comes to whats plants need to get planted next to what plants, I am a little bit lost. If anybody knows of any online resources available please let me know or just post it in a comment. My email is cgoss2@gmail.com

thanks

DAY 1

So this project started as all other projects here seem to start...nothing happened. for about the first hour.

i had previously mentioned the idea to the employees of the Minestario de Agricultura and they seemed enthused. they are about six or seven and work in a broken down cement little buildind. but behind it there is a huge walled in yard with nothing but grass and weed growing. this just didnt seem right seeing as how they were the headquarters for agricultura in my town.

and so the idea popped in my head that this would be an ideal place to create a demonstration permagarden. and whynot, lets just throw in a little lombricultura on the side.

this morning was the morning to start and as i entered the office it was plainly obvious that nobody had remembered and that the ganas just werent there. i asked who wanted to help me get started and all i got was `with what? or that? the ground is really hard`and that was it!! so i took it upon myself to search the town for an asada or hoe. and finally found one i could borrow.

i rode with it and a rake on my bike back to headquarters to get the whole thing started and in motion....

this blog isnt finished by i am really tired and my hands really hurt from karpiendo....

more to come mas adelante...
